TORFAEN will be supporting the British Heart Foundation (BHF) on February 6 by asking employees to wear something red to work.

Users of The Settlement in Pontypool launched the fundraiser on Monday and hope to encourage others to join in the effort.

Research shows that one in four of our loved ones are lost to heart and circulatory disease each year.

The Wear it, Beat it fundraising day will take place on February 6, and Torfaen Council will be supporting the British Heart Foundation (BHF) effort by asking employees to wear something red to work.

You can wear a red jumper, trousers or maybe just paint your nails red, all to raise awareness and then donate £1.

Cllr Bob Wellington, leader of Torfaen council, said: "We’re always happy to support any charity and we have employees who are happy to help raise money and awareness for the British Heart Foundation. I’m sure it will be very successful."

Louise Parkes, fundraising director at the BHF, said: "Wear it. Beat it. is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together to fight against heart and circulatory disease.

"By organising a fundraising event on February 6, you will be helping us to raise much-needed funds for our life saving research."

There will be representatives in the civic centre, the settlement and Pearl House to collect £1 from everyone taking part on the day.

If you don’t work in any of these but would still like to donate you can send it to Cerys Williams, The Settlement, Trosnant Street, Pontypool, NP4 8AT.
