THE former primary school of a brave Newport girl who was diagnosed with a brain tumour is holding a concert to raise funds for her chosen charities.

St Mary’s Primary School, where 12-year-old Libby Fussell used to be a pupil, will be holding the Smile With Libby concert on Tuesday, February 10.

Libby, who is being treated at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff, was diagnosed with the brain tumour made up of a combination of two different types of cancer on October 31.

She has had two operations to remove the tumour and is currently undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

The concert will raise funds for Smile with Libby, a trust in her name, and Latch, a charity that supports children who are receiving treatment for cancer at the Children’s Hospital for Wales.

Earlier this month, Libby had her hair cut, alongside three friends, Libby Goddard, Tayla Winstone, and Eleanor Kelemen, in aid of the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children who lose their hair through cancer.

The concert will be held at St Mary’s Church, in Stow Hill, from 6pm to 7pm and will include performances from the Foundation Phase Choir, Year Two pupils, Key Stage Two choir, Year Four pupils and pupils receiving instrumental lessons.

As a special finale, the school will be joining together to sign a song as part of the St Mary’s School Community Choir.

Tickets are available from the school.
