PONTYPOOL Library took part in the first Harry Potter Book Night.
Library staff dressed up as teachers from the wizarding school Hogwarts, and decorated the library with owls, potions and other magical items.
Cubs from Griffithstown were placed into different houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin, by the magical Sorting Hat and spent the evening discussing the stories, and taking part in Potter-themed games and activities.
The senior library assistant, Bettina Robinson, said: “The Harry Potter Book Night was a great success and it was fantastic opportunity for the children to join in with this national event.
“The Harry Potter books are loved by children of all ages and it is a delight to see children so excited and passionate about reading.”
The event was one of hundreds taking place across the UK organised by Bloomsbury, the publisher of the Harry Potter books.
