NEWPORT brewery Tiny Rebel is celebrating its third birthday, looking back on three years of trading which have seen the family-run firm company increase turnover from £140,000 to £1.2 million.

The brewery, which launched in 2012 by brothers-in-law Bradley Cummings and Gareth Williams, mechanical and electrical engineers by trade, has grown from producing 80,000 litres of beer in its first year to more than 480,000 litres and exporting its products to nine different nations, countries including Italy and Japan.

Based on the Maesglas industrial estate, the brewery launched Cardiff's the Urban Tap House bar in Cardiff 2013, creating 34 jobs.

Bradley Cummings said: “We got off to a great start back In 2013 when our beers won first, second and third place in the Champion Beer of Wales competition and we have continued to produce award-winning beers since then, winning the Champion Beer of Wales two years in a row.

“2015 is going to be a year where we see huge growth for the brewery. We are fast running out of space in our current location, with has no room to expand, so a new premises is on the cards.

"We are also hoping to increase exports to new countries eventually exporting 20 per cent of the product produced and to keep up with demand last year we installed two new 5,000 litre fermenting tanks that has increased our capacity to a potential 830,000 litres.

“We are also looking for the next appropriate venue to launch our second bar. Urban Tap House has been more successful than we ever thought and really shows the appetite there is in Wales for good beers, a good atmosphere and simple but good food."

Tiny Rebel has won the Champion Beer of Wales for two years in a row for its Fubar and Dirty Stop Out beers.
