DOCTORS and nurses linked to neonatal units at the Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall Hospitals are taking part in the St David’s Day 5K and10K Runs in Cardiff on Sunday to raise money to buy equipment to help the care of very ill and premature babies.
The main aim is to raise money for a machine that measures oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood.
“It would mean we would not have to take as many blood samples from the babies, so it is much less invasive,” said senior sister Kath Goodenough.
“We’ve been doing as much training as we can and would love people to get behind a very good cause.”
The Gwent Neonatal Dragons will continue to raise money during the year, and has so far raised £640 through donations at justgiving.com/gwentneonataldragons.
There is also a Gwent Neonatal Dragons Facebook page.
