THE NEWPORT brewers behind Tiny Rebel met with the Prime Minister in London today as part of a St David’s Day celebration.

The brewery was launched in 2012 by brothers-in-law Bradley Cummings and Gareth Williams, who travelled down to London along with wives Laura Cummings and Hannah Williams on the invitation of PM David Cameron.

“We have been invited as part of the annual St David’s Day celebrations,” Mr Cummings said.

“We were invited last year but this year it is held at Downing Street.

“They invite successful businesses and celebrities and anyone doing pretty well to promote Wales.

“I think only 80 to 100 people have been invited so it’s not massive it’s a select thing.”

The event which ran from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Number 10 saw the family business supply their beers at the event.

“We got invited and off the back of that they asked if we want to bring our products,” Mr Cummings added.

“So we are hopeful David will have a few!”

The invitation comes just after the Newport based company celebrated its third birthday which has seen the business increase turnover from £140,000 to £1.2 million.

“We are quite privileged to be invited,” Mr Cummings added.

“It’s just recognition and it is massive for us.”

Mr Cummings and Mr Williams who were former mechanical and electrical engineers by trade, have seen the business grow from producing 80,000 litres of beer in its first year to more than 480,000 litres and exporting its products to nine different countries including Italy and Japan.

Based on the Maesglas industrial estate, the brewery launched the Urban Tap House bar in Cardiff 2013, creating 34 jobs.

In 2013 Tiny Rebel beers won first, second and third place in the Champion Beer of Wales competition winning the title two years in a row.

Tiny Rebel has won the Champion Beer of Wales for two years in a row for its Fubar and Dirty Stop Out beers.
