The man who died after the Celtic Manor accident is named locally in Ross on Wye as Ollie Floyd, a player with Ross on Wye RFC.

A statement on the club's Facebook page says: " It's with great sadness that I have to inform you that Ollie Floyd was killed in a tragic accident this morning. On your behalf I would like to offer our condolences to Haley,Nick, Tom and all members of the family. A great friend and clubman to us all. RIP my friend. Always a legend never will be forgotten."

 

UPDATE: 4.48pm

The injured man has now died, police say. A spokesman said a 20-year-old man from the Ross on Wye area died following the incident this morning at the Celtic Manor.

Another 46-year-old man from Ross on Wye who was also in the vehicle had minor injuries, and he remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Police and Newport Council's health and safety team are carrying out inquiries.

UPDATE: 12.57pm

The Celtic Manor have released a statement following this morning's incident on one of their golf courses:

"The Celtic Manor Resort can confirm that a serious accident took place on its Twenty Ten Course at around 7.50am on Tuesday 3rd March.

"The accident resulted in one person being taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in a critical condition. The incident is currently subject to an investigation which the Celtic Manor Resort is co-operating with fully.

"The Resort is unable to comment further at this stage. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time."

UPDATE: 12.37pm

Gwent Police have confirmed the incident happened at the lake near the 2010 course clubhouse. A spokeswoman said enquiries are ongoing.

UPDATE: 11.49am

A PERSON is in a critical condition in hospital after a vehicle rolled into a lake at the Celtic Manor this morning.

The person was trapped in the small agricultural sprayer and one person was released before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were called at 7.40am and ambulances were called at 7.53am.

One person was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in a critical condition and two others were given a check-up at the scene.

Two emergency ambulances and an paramedic attended.
