AN ABERTILLERY singer-songwriter is keeping her father’s memory alive through her music.

Folk singer Elisabeth Webb, 27, is putting together her first album in the coming months and two tracks are to be dedicated to her late father, Stephen, who died suddenly in February at the age of 65.

Mr Webb taught his daughter how to play the guitar and later left her his Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar, which he played for more than 15 years.

Ms Webb, who goes by the stage name of Serenity Wanders, said: “Dad was a fantastic guitarist and inspired me to be different.

“He taught me guitar at the age of 14 and told me all about folk music. He was my drive.

“I’ve been playing from the heart since his loss and it’s still quite raw. His memory will live on through my music.”

Ms Webb performed yesterday (Sun) on Jamie Owen’s radio show on BBC Radio Wales and has an upcoming gig at Proud Camden, where the likes of Calvin Harris, Jessie J, Pete Doherty, and Stereophonics have all played, on April 6.

She credits a recent year-long trip around the world for giving her renewed inspiration.

She said: “I needed some inspiration and packed up my guitar and went – it was the best thing I ever did.

“I wrote every day, at the beach, in temples, and on top of mountains.

"I drew inspiration from everything and seeing the poverty in Fiji and Bali really opened my eyes."
