STAFF and customers at a Newport car dealership have helped to raise more than £2,000 for St David’s Hospice Care.

The £2,001 was raised by Wessex Garages in Newport Retail Park throughout 2014.

Paul Edwards, general manager at the dealership, said: “St David’s Hospice Care was our chosen Charity of the Year for 2014 and we’re thrilled to have been able to donate £2,001 to its cause.

“The money was raised in a number of ways from staff hosting a Pink Day to clothes recycling. I would like to thank our staff and customers for helping us raise this fantastic amount of money for the charity during the past year. We have decided to continue our relationship with St David’s Hospice Care and it will be our chosen Charity of the Year for 2015. We hope to raise even more money for them this year so they can continue their valuable work.”

St David’s fundraiser Tania Ansell said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Wessex Garages for its donation. Its support during 2014 was greatly appreciated and we’re thrilled to have the support of the company again this year.

“The money Wessex Garages has raised will go towards providing specialist palliative care to more than 3,500 patients and families in the community. When a patient is under-going treatment or on a palliative care pathway, our aim is to ensure that they have optimum one to one care so that they can live their lives to the fullest.

“We’re looking forward to working with Wessex Garages this year on some more fundraising ideas.”
