FIVE friends from Cwmbran gave groom-to-be Gareth Silk a stag-do to remember as they donned their denim hotpants and heels to recreate the Money Supermarket ad.

The five men borrowed their wives' and girlfriends' shorts and bought new high heels for the video which they filmed in Benidorm in Spain on Sunday.

The men in the matching outfits were making their own version of the recent Money Supermarket ad, which features a man dressed in a shirt, jacket and tight denim shorts and stilettos.

Gareth Edwards, one of the groom's friends, came up with the idea while he was in the Queen Inn pub in Cwmbran.

He said they borrowed their partners' denim shorts and got their pairs of high heels professionally stretched so they could act out the hilarious video.

"It was amazing. We were filming at the beachfront in Benidorm and hundreds of people were coming up to us and asking for pictures," Mr Edwards said.

"What amazed me the most was people who had never even seen the video were coming to take picture. There were lots of Dutch and Spanish people and I asked them if they even understood what was going on and they said they didn't."

Mr Edwards said at one point a Spanish police car pulled up, the policeman rolled down his windows and pulled his sunglasses down, had a look and then drove off.
