A CWMBRAN running club will hold its biggest race of the year at the end of the month with a route that runs through Newport, Monmouthshire and Torfaen.

Fairwater Runners’ Rack Raid, a closed invite-only event for clubs in South Wales, consists of 13 different stages and runs for 100 miles through the three counties.

Lee Hammond from Fairwater Runners said: “Clubs have now selected their teams and are hard at work getting their runners prepared for the big day. It's always great to have support en route through all the villages we pass through during what is a very long day of running.”

There will be 16 running clubs represented on the day by 24 different teams and the race will start from Grosmont Castle in Monmouthshire at 7.30am and finish at 7pm at Castel-y-Bwch and take in 13 stages running through the three counties.

The race will take place on Sunday, May 31.

There will be runners representing clubs from all over Gwent. Chepstow Harriers, Usk Runners and Caldicot Running Club will represent Monmouthshire, while Newport will be represented by Lliswerry Runners and Caerleon Running Club. Further Torfaen representation will come from Fairwater Runners, Griffithstown Harriers and Pont-Y-Pwl and District Runners.
