THE MAYOR of Torfaen Cllr Giles Davies had a busy weekend of climbing walls and having one of his legs waxed in aid of charity.
On Sunday (May 24) Cllr Davies visited the opening of new facilities at Cwmbran Stadium during a Torfaen Leisure Trust open day. He was also joined by the newly elected Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds at the official opening of the facilities.
During the visit they tried out the treadmills and scaled several Go Vertical climbing walls.
Cllr Davies, who represents the Abersychan ward, praised the opening speech given by CEO Sally Church and said he enjoyed trying out the climbing walls.
Later in the day they attended the Blaenavon Blues XI v Welsh Veterans Memorial Game at Blaenavon.
“Great meeting the team and a really warm welcome at Blaenavon and off Blues and Wales Vets,” he said to his followers on twitter.
After the match he had one of his legs waxed during a charity auction and raised £20 for the British Heart Foundation.
Mr Thomas-Symonds also said on twitter: “Privileged to be at a packed Blaenavon Blues v Wales Vets charity match in memory of Aaron "Azza" Williams.”
