CWMBRAN residents who saw their homes destroyed by the Shakespeare Road blaze on Tuesday have found new accommodation.

A Bron Afon spokesman confirmed that residents living in the block of four flats on Shakespeare Road in Cwmbran have been found temporary accommodation while the full extent of the damage is assessed.

Kerry Battrick, Head of Major Works and New Build, said: “Since this tragic fire our priority has been supporting all of the residents in the block, the local community, and the police and fire service with their investigations.

“It’s still too early to say what we will be doing with the flats as the full extent of the damage is not known at this stage.

“We were able to quickly find temporary accommodation for those who needed somewhere to stay.

“Tenants from two of the flats have been found somewhere permanent and we are working to find somewhere for the third tenant.

“We would like to thank TRAC2, a charity in Trevethin that recycles household goods, and our contractors who are contributing furniture and offers of decoration for their new homes.”
