A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 8.15am this morning, June 30, informing us that travellers had congregated in the car park on Christchurch Hill, Newport.
“Officers attended to speak with the travellers. Five caravans are currently at the location. The local authority is aware.
“Officers will continue to engage with the travellers and work alongside Newport City Council to monitor the situation.”

TRAVELLERS have moved on to the carpark at Christchurch this morning.
The caravans are occupying most of the carpark at the beauty spot. It is reported there is no space for any visitors as caravans are taking up all the space available.
