POLICE searching for a missing Blaina man on the Isle of Wight have found a body.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that a man’s body was found on marshland in Sandown on Wednesday afternoon.
Michael Davies, 71, had been visiting the island on holiday as part of a coaching trip with his wife.
Mr Davies, who was staying at a hotel in Sandown, was last seen more than a month ago on
May 26.
Police said a formal identification of the body, which was found shortly after 3pm, had not yet taken place. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
His family have previously made emotional appeals for information about his whereabouts.
Police also released CCTV footage showing the pensioner in the hotel shortly before his disappearance.
A police spokesman said: “Recovery of the body is taking place and a cordon has been put in place at the current time to allow this to happen.”
He added: “Officers looking for missing 71-year-old man Michael Davies have made contact with his family to keep them informed of the discovery prior to formal identification taking place.”
