THE 74th Machen Agricultural Show kicks off from 8.30am tomorrow at Mill Farm bringing fun for all the family.

The display ring starts around 1pm with the first heat of the donkey derby sponsored by Brinson Estate Agents in Caerphilly.

There will be six races with each winner competing in the grand final at the end of the day.

The day will also feature a Ben Long falconry display, children’s races, vintage machinery and the Glamorgan mink hounds.

A large number of Pygmy goats are entered this year, along with chickens and other varieties of birds. There will be a rabbit show with a cuddle corner and a pet show, so bring your pet along to enter at midday to compete.

There will also be a Hope Rescue dog show, terrier and lurcher show and a hound show.

Bedwas young farmers will attend and a sheep shearing demonstration will take place.

A variety of horse and pony classes will be on offer throughout the day along with children’s novelty classes and fancy dress competition.

Other entertainment includes rural crafts and food market, trade stands, horticulture, rides, catering and a public bar.

Adult entry is £5; child/OAP £3, family ticket for two adults and up to three children under 10 is £15.
