STRICLY Come Dancing star Ian Waite led a dancing masterclass in Cwmbran today.

Mr Waite led a Fitsteps masterclass, where those taking part enjoyed dancing the jive, pass double and cha cha cha, for around 90 people at the Parkway Hotel and Spa.

Fitsteps was started by Strictly Come Dancing stars Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe and swimmer Mark Foster as a dance training session in 2013.

Kim Brockhurst, a Fitsteps teacher from Blaina, leads classes 10 classes a week in Cwmbran, Abertillery, Ebbw Vale and Pontypool.

Members of her class took part in the masterclass.

“It was a fantastic masterclass with around 90 ladies and gents dancing for the hour,” she said.

“There were people that came from as far as Mountain Ash, Cwmbran, Aberdare and Newport.”

She added that Ian White, who instructed the session, was ‘mobbed’ when everyone saw him.

A raffle was also held to raise funds for Hospice of the Valleys, as both of Kim’s in-laws have had serious bowel surgery in the last six months.

Prizes included a spa day for two, with more than £120 raised for the hospice.
