THE sun shone and the pirates came out too this weekend - but not to walk the plank.
Pirate Day has become an annual event at Fourteen Locks Canal Centre in Rogerstone and this year was as popular as ever with everyone - young and old alike.
The Mon & Brec Canals Trust Trip Boat doubled as a pirate ship for the day and was busy all day long. There was plenty to see and do with children's trails, face painting and balloons.
Volunteer coordinator Tom Maloney said: "A big thank you to everyone who came to the event, to the volunteers that made the day possible and to the Heritage Lottery Fund for its continuing support."
