A WOMAN from Newport has received an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction (ASBI) after a variety of anti-social and criminal behaviour in and around the local community.

Anna James, 47, from Mallard Way, Duffryn, was issued with a 12 month ASBI at Newport Magistrates Court on July 23 following evidence from officers.

James was given the ASBI for her constant anti-social and nuisance behaviour.

She has 19 previous convictions and has been reported for causing a nuisance to members of the public, being drunk, shouting and swearing at local residents and for public order offences.

In April 2015, James was offered an Acceptable Behaviour Contract by officers with conditions to abide by, however James is said to have refused to work with officers.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction prevents James (either herself or by encouraging anyone else) from engaging or threatening to engage in a way capable of causing nuisance, annoyance, alarm, harassment or distress by words or her actions or by encouraging anyone to be involved in such behaviour in any part of Newport.

She also can't drinking alcohol in any public place other than in a licensed premise in Newport, have an open container of alcohol in a public place in Newport, or be in certain areas of Pill and the Gaer areas of Newport.

PC Leanne Pole, crime and disorder reduction officer for Newport Central, said: "The behaviour of Anna James was harassing and causing annoyance for residents. Hopefully this injunction will help alleviate these issues and bring them some relief.

"We will take action against individual who cause a constant problem and commit crime regularly in the City Centre.”

The order will run until 4pm on July 22, 2016. If any member of the public sees James breaching this injunction, they are asked to call 101.

Breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction is a criminal offence, and will result in the individual concerned being arrested, charged and having to make an appearance before the courts.
