POLICE: A man has been arrested after threatening to jump off Newport's pedestrian bridge

The man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, a police spokesman has confirmed.

A MAN has been arrested after reportedly threatening to jump off Newport's Millennium Bridge.
Police were called to the scene and arrested the man just after 8pm.
He has now been detained in custody.
Around six police cars, a police motorbike and three fire engines were all called to the scene.
The pedestrian bridge was closed for a short period of time.
Fire service crews from Malpas, Duffryn, Maindee and Barry were called to the scene at 7.49pm, but when they arrived at 8.01pm a spokeswoman said they were 'not needed'.
