A YOUNG mother-of-three who has been given just 12 months to live is planning to marry her long-term partner in Newport thanks to a £2,800 fundraising campaign.

Thirty-one-year-old Stacie Jordan was diagnosed with stomach cancer in June. Just three weeks later, doctors told her it was terminal.

Ms Jordan, who is mum to Faith, eight, Grace, seven, and Joshua, five, has now started a course of chemotherapy which she hopes will put the cancer into remission – but she has drawn up a bucket list of things she wants to do in the interim should the worst case materialise.

The list includes bungee jumping, riding a motorbike again and skiing with her children.

But her main aim is to marry her partner of 11 years, Aron, with her three children following her down the aisle.

Now, 137 individuals and businesses have helped to raise £2,830 in just 19 days thanks to an online fundraising campaign started by Ms Jordan’s old school friend, Jade Harrison - and money is still pouring in, in a bid to reach £3,000.

Ms Jordan, who was born in Blackwood and lived in Newport before moving to Gloucester in May this year, said she is “overwhelmed” with the response, which she called “insane”. The money will go towards the wedding at Newport’s Holiday Inn on September 4 as well as other bucket list activities.

Doctors first told Ms Jordan that she had a stomach ulcer when she was unable to eat anything for eight weeks and suffered pain and sickness.

Ms Jordan said: “I knew it was something more. I went back to the doctors in June and had a biopsy which came back as abnormal cells but still we were none the wiser.

“The results then came back as stomach cancer.

“Until three weeks ago they were talking about removing the stomach but then they found it was inoperable, it was in the lining of the stomach.”

Doctors have estimated she has one year to live, with chemotherapy.

Ms Jordan said: “It is what it is. I have three kids, they understand mummy’s got a bad belly.

“When I told them my hair might fall out, they found that really funny. They said mummy's going to be bald like daddy.

“There are no definites, it will never go but it could go into remission.”

Ms Jordan discovered the cancer was terminal on July 7 and the couple decided to get married when they were driving back from the hospital.

Her children are designing her wedding cake and Newport shop All About Eve has donated a wedding dress.

Also on the bucket list for Ms Jordan, who is interested in historical re-enactments, is to pass her sword test and be around for the next series of TV show Game of Thrones.

Jade Harrison, who started the campaign, said: “Stacie is an amazing mother and it was what she was born to do.

“She is very well thought of in the community”.

On Monday Ms Jordan posted a picture of her with her newly-shaved head and her fiancé on social media, with the caption "his and her's hair styles, I think I wear it better."

Ms Jordan said: “Words cannot describe how thankful I am to each and everyone who has donated, offered their services and gifts.”

She is also hoping to raise awareness of the condition, said to be very rare cancer to have at a young age.
