NEWPORT Civic Society will soon be starting its programme of talks again after a break for the summer, kicking off with Ancient Egypt.
On September 10, Peter James of Newport-based Cintex will talk about his work studying the architecture of the Egyptian pyramids.
On October 8, Richard Hayward from Richard Hayward properties will talk about regeneration in the city centre.
All are welcome to guest speaker events, which start at 7.30pm at Newport Civic Centre (the reception desk will inform you of the room). Annual membership is £6.50 and this includes entry to all guest speaker events. Alternatively, it is £2.50 for non-members to attend a single guest speaker event.
According to the website, the group exists “to preserve the rich heritage and culture of the city and to encourage a thoughtful regeneration to ensure this is a great place to live, work, study and socialise.”
It aims to make Newport “an even better place” through discussions and bringing likeminded people together.
