TRANSITION Chepstow is hoping to draw people’s attention to the issue of food waste by holding a Food for Thought Fortnight.
Globally, one third of all food produced is wasted. In the UK, this is the equivalent to 22 million meals every day.
Transition Chepstow’s ‘No Food Waste’ Challenge encourages people to measure and try to reduce how much food waste they throw away.
The average UK household throws away £480 a year by not using all the food they buy.
The highlight of the fortnight is a special ‘Let’s Get Wasted’ night at the Beaufort Hotel in Chepstow on Sunday, September 6, from 7.30pm.
The local Tesco supermarket will be donating food that would otherwise be thrown away and the wonderful chefs will turn it into some delicious dishes for everyone to enjoy.
Booking is strongly recommended. To book a table, contact the Beaufort Hotel on 01291 622497.
You can sign up for the ‘No Food Challenge’ by emailing food4thought@transitionchepstow.org.uk and be entered into a prize draw for a fantastic local food hamper.
