A MONMOUTHSHIRE sports club have raised more than £7,000 towards the Sparkle Appeal.
The Undy Athletic Football Club have raised £7, 413 for the charity in aid of the Serennu Children's Centre in Rogerstone. They have raised the funds through a number of events including last week's 80's themed karaoke evening and a Caribbean themed evening in the summer.
Tracy Stafford, aged 48, assistant bar manager at the club and fundraiser, said: "All the events have been really well attended by the local guys. We've had great support from the club.
"I'm absolutely ecstatic to reach over £7,000. We started with a target of £1,000 for a year and we were really chuffed when we reached 1,500 after the first event but now we've stretched the target to £10,000 for the year."
Ms Stafford's son Coby, who is five-years-old, has autism and has been using the centre since he was two and a half-years-old.
She said: "I felt like I can't take from the centre without giving something back. I love raising money for Sparkle as it's for all the children not just about my son."
