AN OAP was attacked by a man with a bulldog on a canal path after he was asked to put his dog on a lead.

The 77-year-old Risca man was walking along the canal with his wife when they approached a man stood with his bike and dog. After the dog jumped up at the woman causing alarm, the owner was asked to put the dog on a lead, he became verbally abusive and assaulted the victim.

The victim sustained injuries to the face, shoulder and ankle. He was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.

Police are appealing for information following the attack which happened at around 3.15pm on 5th October.

The man police would like to speak to in connection with the incident is around 30 years old, tall, of slight build with fair hair and facial stubble. The dog with him was described as being white, of medium to large size, and a Mastiff/ American Bulldog type breed.
