THE Northern Lights were visible in Gwent last night and you've been posting your incredible piuctures of the eerie night-time show.

Thomas Winstone from Brynmawr captured the Aurora last night as did Helen Usher (below).

The Met Office predicted there was a chance you could see the Aurora Borealis in the UK last night, especially if you were in areas such as North Wales, Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

They said over the next few weeks the likelihood of seeing the aurora here on Earth is on the increase as two space weather phenomena coincide.

This map shows the intensity of the Northern Lights last night over Europe. the higher the KP number, the better the display.
