THE Mayor of Abergavenny has completed a charity swim to raise funds for her two charities.
Councillor Maureen Powell, who is also a Monmouthshire county Councillor, representing the Castle ward in Abergavenny swam 50 lengths of the 25-metre pool at the town’s leisure centre in 38 minutes.
Cllr Powell,78, who suffers from Spinal Stenosis, is raising funds for Wales Air Ambulance and the Velindre Cancer Care.
After completing the challenge, she said:"I am a bit like a swan, ungainly on land, but far better in water."
Cllr Powell can still be sponsored via the One Stop Shop on Cross Street for the‘Mayors Charity Fund.’
