ON SATURDAY members of Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, who were involved in the rescue of three people who were struck by lightening in the Brecon Beacons last July, met a survivor of the incident and escorted him back to the scene.

Nick Earl was injured when lightening struck and killed his friend, Robin Meakings, on Cribyn during an unprecedented storm that also killed another walker a mile away on Corn Du.

Mr Earl was able to tell rescuers firsthand about his experience and how, despite being temporarily paralysed by the strike andbeing in extreme pain, he could see and hear all that was going on around him.

Dr Robert Powell and Richard Starke attempted to resuscitate two of the casualties and treated Mr Earl during the flight from the mountains to Prince Charles Hospital while on board the RAF rescue helicopter.

The reunion will feature in a television documentary produced by RAW TV and will be aired before Christmas this year.
