ACROSS Gwent people have been getting into the spirit of Children in Need to host fundraising events.

The BBC Children in Need Appeal aims is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

It is currently supporting around 2,500 projects that are working with children who are facing a range of disadvantages.

People across Gwent have been raising funds for the charity ahead of the appeal show being broadcast on Friday night.

In the morning, children as young as eight months old took part in a danceathon at Seren Fach Nursery in Newport, along with staff members.

For thirty minutes the group of pre-school age children danced and raised over £200 for the charity.

In the afternoon it was the after school clubs turn to undertake the challenge.

It was a whole school effort at Gaer Primary School in Newport with pupils wearing their pyjamas, enjoying a bouncy castle, and receiving a Pudsey cake.

The event organised by the PTA for the 415 pupils raised £569.07 for the charity.

Supporting two charities were pupils at Lliswerry Primary School in Newport.

The whole school were invited to wear their onesies for the day with money being split between Children in Need and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

At Clytha Primary School pupils dressed up in onesies and superheroes and a group took part in a ridiculous ramble event to raise funds.

It wasn’t just children joining in the fun with staff at Trade Price Tyres, Crindau, getting dressed up to support the charity.

Collecting donations in their Pudsey onesies were Wade Christensen, Kieron Borg, Mike Powell, Aston Mabe and Ashley Farley.

While staff at Cox and Hitchcock Dental Group in Newport also dressed for the occasion.

Hundreds of Lloyds Banking Group colleagues at Newport call centre dedicated 2,000 hours of support for the charity by volunteering to answer the calls and to process the many millions of pounds donated by the public late into last night’s appeal night.

In addition to volunteering, the Newport group organised their own fundraising events including a bake sale, quizzes, raffles, colouring competitions and dressed up as their childhood heroes.

In Torfaen pupils were invited to dress as super heroes at Blenheim Road Community Primary School. The day raised £130 for the charity.

Also dressing up for the occasion were pupils at Ponthir Church in Wales School.

Staff in Asda Cwmbran also joined in the fun and donned their onesies.

It was a busy day at Building Blocks Nursery in Croesyceiliog. The children wore fancy dress and participated in a sponsored toddle waddle, sold sweets and cakes and had a special visit from Pudsey.

The fundraising went on into the evening with members of the Young Firefighters scheme taking part in a fundraising ladder climb at Tredegar fire station, covering the same distance as climbing Snowden.

While The Golden Lion in Magor transformed their pub into a Pudsey fun house including Pudsey theme from beer mats, banners, and even six foot Pudseys.

The staff sold raffle tickets around Magor and all 17 staff came into work in their onesies.
