REGARDING people sacrificing their lives for Isis, the terrorist organisation. The urge to self-immolate in a “higher” cause has long been exploited by sacrificial cults.
However, Isis fighters are brainwashed to see it as a “high and courageous act of duty” to kill as many innocent people as possible while taking their own lives.
Jesus of Nazareth totally transformed human attitudes to sacrifice when taught: “Greater love have no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Jesus died to save the world, and many Muslims revere Jesus as a prophet and totally oppose the killing of the innocents.
At a time when we should build on such common values, it is extraordinary that cinema goers should be barred from seeing an advertisement featuring the Lord’s Prayer, which can only unite those who seek peace and goodwill, for fear of “giving offence”.
