A CHRISTMAS concert packed full of festive favourites and surprise guests is set to be held in Newport next month.

The annual Christmas Extravaganza, which will be held at the Newport Centre on December 13, promises to wow audiences and get them into the festive spirit.

The audience will be entertained by a special selection of musical delights, including seasonal film favourites and festive choices which will be performed by students of Gwent Music.

Newport Music Centre’s Wind Band, Isca Linea String Orchestra, Greater Gwent Youth Orchestra and a choir will also take to the stage.

The concert, which is supported by the South Wales Argus, Newport City Council and the Rotary Club of St Woolos, Newport, is the culmination of each of Gwent Music’s events leading up to Christmas.

The Rotary Club and Gwent Music have produced their Christmas Extravaganza for the past 29 years.

Howard Sully, president of the Rotary Club of St Woolos, Newport said: “We admire the tenacity and dedication of all the students, teachers, parents and carers who help make this happen and are immensely grateful for the support we receive from the South Wales Argus.”
