THE Post Office is proposing to reopen High Cross Post Office at a new location as a open-plan local-style branch.

Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services and the new High Cross branch will offer these Post Office products and services throughout shop opening hours from an open-plan till at the shop counter.

The proposed new location for the branch is Greenfield Stores, 3-4 Greenfield Road, Rogerstone.

This is 0.4 miles from the previous High Cross Post Office which closed temporarily in August 2015 following the withdrawal of premises for Post Office use.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open, seven days a week, from 7.30am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 8.30pm, Saturday and 8am to 8pm on Sunday.

The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network.

Julia Marwood, Regional Manager said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Newport and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. The consultation will close on 18 January 2016.

Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost Your Comments to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.

Customers can also go online to a questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 21163299.
