THE annual Pontypool 10km Home Run – which raises funds to support the work of St David’s Hospice Care – will this year be boosted by the support of a local family business, Johnsey Estates UK Ltd.

A team of14 members of staff from Johnsey Estates base at Mamhilad Park have bagged their numbers and hope to raise an extra £5,000 for the organisers of the popular 10k event.

Chief executive officer James Crawford, who has already his started training, said: “We have long thought that we would like to show our support for the local community, and this event ticks all the right boxes.

"It is right on our door step, the course runs around our office park at Mamhilad, and the money raised helps local patients.

"At our base at Mamhilad Park we have a diverse range of businesses from start-ups to larger corporations, and we hope to involve them in the fundraising too.

"It’s a great team building exercise, and we can pop out and practice along the route together. We are confident that we can raise well over £5,000 to support hospice care in this community.”

Christine Vorres, the event director added: “We are thrilled and grateful to have the support of Johnsey Estates and their staff.

"The race is a favourite of mine as it’s scenic, fast, and suitable for anyone to have a go.

"For anyone starting a fitness regime in the new year, it is a great goal to aim for.

"Last year we raised nearly £9,000, and with the support of the team from Johnsey Estates we can possible increase that to around £15,000. This would be fantastic for our patients.”
