WILDLIFE presenter Kate Humble has closed her Wye Valley farm shop and café for the winter, with the loss of six jobs.

Ms Humble, who presents BBC’s Lambing Live and Springwatch, opened the café and shop - selling artisan and local produce from her working farm, Humble by Nature - in July 2014.

She opened the farm itself, located at Upper Meend Farm in Lydart, near Monmouth, in 2012, with her BAFTA award winning TV producer husband Ludo Graham, offering specialised courses in animal husbandry, rural skills and cookery.

It also hosts exclusive supper clubs and has a suite of luxury self-catering accommodation available for visitors to stay in.

A spokeswoman for Ms Humble blamed the closure on financial pressures.

A statement on the Humble by Nature website said all other activities on the farm will continue and are not affected by this closure.

It adds: "We are still be giving people of all ages the opportunity to come to a working farm, to learn, to explore, to get their finger nails dirty. We have a wide range of courses scheduled for 2016, including some wonderful new ones.’

"We will continue to host school visits and run events for children throughout the school holidays, which will always include the chance to meet the animals and play on the adventure playground. Easter and half-term will coincide with lambing season, and we have plenty of fun planned for this busy time in the farming year."
