A PARALYMPIC athlete paid a special visit to primary school this month in a sponsored event.

British sprinter Ben Rushgrove visited children at Pontllanfraith Primary, with the aim of inspiring children into more sport and exercise.

Pupils and teachers took part in a whole school fitness session and the Paralympian talked to the children about his sporting experiences, encouraging them to be “the best you can.”

The event was held to raise money for sports equipment for the school and support GB & Olympic athletes in achieving their goals.

Head Teacher, Angela Taylor, said: “Our dedicated staff, PTA members and pupils are working hard to transform the extensive grounds to match what has been achieved in the interior of the school’s historical building over recent years.

“We are undertaking quite an improvement journey and the school is going from strength to strength.”
