CAERLEON AFC are getting ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club winning the prestigious Welsh Amateur Cup, defeating Welshpool 1-0 in the final at the Llanidloes AFC ground.

On Saturday, April 30, the club intends to create an area inside the clubhouse (Cold Bath Road) where various items of memorabilia from the final and that period will be on display.

Hopefully, there will also be a wall projection of pictures of teams over the years.

The event starts at 6pm and the bar will be open and a free buffet available.

It is hoped this will be a celebration of the club down the years as well as acknowledging the achievements of the club on that memorable day.

To this end the club invites all past players, especially those from the Welsh Cup winning team, supporters who remember the day and all residents of Caerleon and surrounding areas who would like to learn more about the history and achievements of their local football club.

All are welcome to come along beforehand to watch the 1st team play Cwm Welfare, kicking off at 2.30.
