FIREFIGHTERS were called to a spate of “deliberately set” fires across Gwent this weekend.
A mixture of bin fires and grass fires tied up crews across Caerphilly and Pontypool.
Last night, a single Caerphilly crew were called at 8.09pm to a grass fire on Rudry Common, using beaters to extinguish the flames.
An Aberbargoed crew also were called at yesterday at 10.58pm to a grass fire on St Andrews Drive, near Pontllanfraith Junior School.
This morning, a Risca crew tackled a bin fire outside Risca Builders on St Mary Street after being called at 1.18am.
A New Inn crew were called to a Pontypool bin fire on Canford Close, Trevethin at 4.03am on the same day.
