THE OFFICIAL song of Wales Euro 2016 will be written by the Manic Street Preachers in an announcement by the Football Association of Wales today.

The song, entitled “Together Stronger (C’mon Wales)” celebrates past and present members of the squad and their appearance in a major tournament for the first time in over half a century.

In preparation for the Euro finals in France, the Blackwood band met up with Wales's national team squad and manager, Chris Coleman, at training sessions to film an accompanying music video.

Speaking about the collaboration, Mr Coleman said: “It was fantastic to be involved with such an iconic Welsh band.

“Manic Street Preachers have been passionate Welsh football supporters and all the lads enjoyed the experience and joined in.”

All profits from the song will go to “worthwhile causes” including the Princes Gate Trust and Tenovus Cancer Care.

The Wales anthem will also be released at the same time as Manic Street Preacher’s 20th anniversary re-issue of their successful fourth album “Everything Must Go.”

In preparation for the EURO 2016, Wales will play Northern Ireland on Thursday, March 24 and Ukraine on Monday, March 28.

The Wales charity single will be officially released on Friday, May 20.
