Funeral of Courtney Smith who died in Caerleon crash to be held today
MOURNERS will gather for the funeral of 16-year-old Courtney Smith today.
The teenager was a passenger in a fatal car crash at Belmont Hill, Caerleon, last month which also killed her boyfriend, Thomas Lawrence, 21.
The service will take place at St Gabriel’s Church, in Old Cwmbran, at 1.45pm, followed by interment at Llwyncelyn Cemetery.
The Smith family, from Cwmbran, have asked for family flowers only, while donations may be given after the service which will be divided between charities close to Courtney’s heart.
Mr Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and Courtney died in the Royal Gwent Hospital days later.
