POLICE want to track down a 40-year-old convict who breached his licence and is a potential risk to the public.
Michael Thomas failed to return to HMP Prescoed in Usk on Thursday after being released on a special purpose licence.
He was convicted of wounding with intent and was serving an indeterminate sentence. He is not a registered sex offender.
He is described as white, short dark brown hair, unshaven, medium build and approximately 6ft tall.
Gwent Police has activated its operational plan with the aim of locating him and is working with colleagues from other police force areas.
It is believed there may be a potential risk to the public due to the fact that he is no longer in the custody of the prison service.
If anyone sees him or knows of his whereabouts they are advised not to approach him but to call police on 101 quoting log 424 28/4/16.
