A FORTY-FIVE-year-old man was rescued from the River Usk, close to Newport's Millennium Walk on Saturday night.
He was retrieved from the river and taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, after he became stuck in the muddy banks of the river.
A spokesman from Gwent Police said that man did not receive any charges as no offences were committed.
He added that the police are happy that this was just an accident.

A MAN was rescued from the muddy banks of the River Usk, close to Newport’s Millennium Walk, on Saturday night.
Personnel from across the emergency services were involved in the rescue, arriving on the scene at just before 10.05pm.
Boat and line rescues were used to bring the man to safety, with a spokeswoman for the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service describing the man as ‘intoxicated’.
Fire crews left the scene at 10.50pm.
