TRAINEE physiotherapist Nina Johnson is hoping she comes out on top in the Miss Wales contest next month.
The former pupil of King Henry VIII school, in Abergavenny, has made it to the final of the competition, which takes place in Cardiff on July 7.
Student Miss Johnson, 19, is currently studying at Bristol University and is planning to become a veterinary physiotherapist when she graduates.
But for the meantime, she's enjoying a pleasant distraction as she prepares to line up with fellow contestants from across Wales, including eight others from Gwent.
So far she says she's had support from businesses across Abergavenny and if she wins she'll be using her success to support the Joshua Foundation, a Christian charity which helps the poor.
"I feel very strongly about the work it does and the lives it improves," she said.
* The other Gwent contenders are: Bethan Vaughan, 20, from Pontypool; Alex Morgan, 23, from Newport; Lindsay Jones, 21, from Monmouth; Cara Dattani, 21, from Abergavenny; Samantha Gerrard, 21, from Cwmcarn; Tonia Thomas, 17, from Cwmbran; Lucy Bekarian, 24, from Newport; and Emma-Jayne Morales, 24, from Ebbw Vale.
