TREDEGAR House is set to be awash with pirates this Bank Holiday Monday for the annual family event Pirate Day.
Visitors are invited to don their best pirate costumes to pay homage to the Golden Age of Piracy and Tredegar House’s very own Captain Henry Morgan
Young pirates and their families will get to walk the plank before heading on a treasure hunt through the mansion.
With several other pirate-themed activities throughout the day, Pirate Day has earned a reputation as being "one of the best family days out in Newport".
The number of visitors coming to the event since its launch in 2013 has doubled, and last year nearly 2000 people were in attendance.
Harriet O’Brien, events and programming officer, said: “This is without doubt one of the most loved events on the Tredegar House calendar and it has firmly established itself as a tradition for Newport families.
“The whole team has been gearing up for the event; perfecting their pirate lingo and getting their costumes ready. We can’t wait for the public to see Tredegar House transformed into a pirate playground for the day.”
The event is held in the house and gardens at Tredegar House between 11am and 4pm.
Normal admissions apply, although National Trust members go free.
