A GWENT primary school has been taking part in a national project aiming to unite schools, churches and communities through music.

Charles Williams Church in Wales, in Caerleon, recently put on two performances at their local church after getting involved with the iSingPOP scheme.

The project, from the Innervation Trust, aims to give thousands of children the chance to learn a a list of songs, with a Christian perspective, record their very own album and perform.

Teacher Kath Sperry helped to organise the events, at St Cadoc’s Church in Caerleon, along with head teacher Jared Nolan.

She said: “It was brilliant, the children and the audience all had a great time.

“It was amazing to watch, and I’m so glad we got involved.”

The entire primary school took part in the iSingPOP concerts, with over 400 children performing for parents, grandparents, members of the community, headteachers of other church in Wales schools, and several members from the Monmouth Diocese.

Ms Sperry said: “The concerts celebrated the distinctive Christian ethos of the school, along with the school's values, whilst also strengthening the relationship between the church and the school.

“We really feel that the whole iSingPOP experience will have a lasting impact on the life of the school, and adults and children alike will be talking and buzzing about this for years to come.”
