THIS 100ft tower could be become an iconic part of the Gwent skyline after winning a national competition.
The glass tower structure, designed by Michael Cook, was chosen from dozens of entries as a potential landmark for the A40 at Monmouth.
Lyrics and melodies of modern and historic Welsh music will play inside, while two spiral metal staircases will lead to an observation deck.
The design will now go forward for a lottery application being sought by Landmark Wales in September.
The design was one of four winners from 87 entries in the latest stage of the Landmark Wales competition.
A famous landmark will also be built at the Newport Brynglas tunnels but has not been decided yet.
Last month judges revealed they had selected "The Red Cloud" as the Landmark Wales public art project candidate for the second Severn Crossing.
A bid will now be made for lottery funding for the design by Marks Barfield Architects, the team behind the London Eye.
