THOUSANDS of Newport residents flocked to the second annual Party in Parc on Saturday.

The free event at Belle Vue Park, organised by Malpas-based café Parc Pantry, saw its second year triple in size with more visitors and stall holders.

One of the event organisers, Ant Cook, 33, said he was delighted to be part of the event.

He said: “Last year was our first day trading up there so it has been surreal this year.

“It’s great that there’s a huge amount of support for local businesses."

There were around 30 food vendors and stall holders at the event, with a variety of entertainment and music on the bandstand from New City Stand, Sax For Fun and Rock Chair.

Each stall at the event donated an amount from their day’s earnings, which has gone towards St David’s Hospice.

Event organisers also made sure that Pokémon enthusiasts were well catered for and set up a map including information about ‘pokestops’ and walking routes.

Mr Cook said the amount of visitors was fantastic, and believes there was around 5,000 altogether.

“It was hectic to say the least but the day had a good mix of entertainment and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves,” he said.
