SCIENTIFIC marvels wills sweep across Newport this Bank Holiday Weekend, when an interactive science show visits the city.

Welsh Science and Discovery Centre,Techniquest, is inviting families in Newport to take part in its interactive tour as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

The centre, based in Cardiff Bay, will be taking its ‘Techniquest on Tour’ to Friars Walk, Newport, on Monday, August 29, from 11am-5pm.

Families will be able to join in with the free interactive roadshow and take part in table top versions of some of Techniquest’s best loved exhibits.

Activities will range from a human circuit, rope tricks to sitting on a seat of nails with visitors actively encouraged to get involved and ask questions.

Throughout the summer, the educational charity will be also be visiting communities across South Wales, including Pontypool, Merthyr, Neath, Swansea, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Pontypridd, Cardiff and Ebbw Vale.

Chief executive officer at Techniquest, Lesley Kirkpatrick, said: “We’re really looking forward to taking Techniquest to communities in South Wales. We want as many people as possible to join in our 30th anniversary celebrations and we have some great activities for people of all ages for enjoy.

“We want to capture people having a good time so we’re bringing along our ‘Techniquest on Tour’ selfie frame and we’ll be encouraging people to have their photo taken and post it on social media."

She added: “Techniquest on Tour will be a great opportunity to get take part in these entertaining, mind-boggling science activities and our roadshows were created with this in mind.”

Techniquest is an educational charity based in Cardiff Bay offering educational days out for all ages whatever the weather and is open every day throughout the summer holidays.

It prides itself on inspiring audiences to engage with science, technology, engineering and maths and offers visitors a planetarium, science theatre and a discovery room, covering topics from fossils to forensic science.
