DID you know that nestled at the foot of the Newport Transporter Bridge lies a haven for lost, stray and abandoned dogs?

Newport City Dogs Home cares for more than 500 dogs a year, and if they are not claimed by their owners, the dogs are offered for adoption. There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ stray.

From the smallest to the tallest, from puppies to golden oldies, if you are looking for a forever friend to share your heart and your home, you are sure to find the perfect pooch at Newport City Dogs Home!

The Argus has teamed up with the dogs home and will be regularly featuring a ‘Dog of the Week’ to help them find homes.

This week’s star is Chloe the chihuahua.

Chloe is approximately five years of age. She seems to have led a bit of a sheltered life, and although she is friendly and affectionate with people she knows, she can be a little shy of strangers.

Chloe has met some of her fellow residents at the home – both cats and dogs – and seems to enjoy the companionship of calm, well behaved animals.

The staff will be looking for a home with adults only, or older children, as they feel Chloe could become overwhelmed and anxious around young children.

If you would like to meet Chloe, or any of the other resident dogs looking for a forever home, contact Newport City Dogs Home on 01633 656656.
