MORE THAN 15,000 people attended the annualCastell Roc music festival in Chepstow over the last two weeks.

The event, which took place over two halves, attracted big acts to the town's castle across 10 days.

Last weekend, popular pianist Jools Holland proved to be the main draw when 1,200 people saw him play on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain performed, with tributes to David Bowie and Motorhead also taking to the stage.

Other acts that played earlier in the week include tributes to Simon and Garfunkel and Queen, as well as Paul Jones and the Blues Band.

Scottish pop duo The Proclaimers and fellow duo The Shires sold out their respective shows in the festival's first week.

Organiser Carol Mutlow said plans are already in motion for next year's event with several acts already booked.

Ms Mutlow said: "It's been really good as all in all we've had more than 15,000 people here across the whole 10 days.

"We've had positive feedback from local pubs and bed and breakfasts. Everyone seemed to have a good time."
