A FORMER Olympic diver plunged from the walls of Chepstow Castle ahead of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
Blake Aldridge — Tom Daley’s diving partner from the 2008 Beijing Games — took the leap from the 26m high walls above the cliffs, plummeting safely into the River Wye.
The guerrilla jump happened when the diver was en-route to Pembrokeshire for the Red Bull sponsored competition.
The Boat Inn in Chepstow supported the event and supplied this video.
LEAP OF FAITH: Blake Aldridge taking the plunge
“That’s the beauty of cliff diving. We only need a high take-off spot with a stretch of water below to showcase our sport,” he said.
This weekend he will compete with two other British athletes in Wales in the sixth stop of the competition, joining UK divers Gary Hunt and Mat Cowen.
The competition will be streamed live from 1.50pm September 11 on www.redbullcliffdiving.com
